I spent a decent amount of time traveling overseas during the last couple of years, and every time I come back to my country, Italy, I marvel at its beauty.

Brindisi by Night

[pullquote]The more I travel overseas, the more I am in love with Italy, my home country[/pullquote]

Traveling in totally different contexts not only makes me feel richer, it also reminds me of how wonderful is the land I come from.

Italy was blessed with a unique blend of superb landscapes, stunning works of art and architecture, an amazing heritage and an incredible diversity, but the truth is that I sometimes take all this for granted, not paying the right attention anymore.

Brindisi
As strange as it may sound, I had never properly visited Turin until last year, despite it is a mere 150 km from Milan. I found the city gorgeous and definitely want to go back to see more of it.

Then there was the Molise region, wild and beautiful, widely unknown and definitely an off-beaten destination in Italy.

The wish to explore more of my country has grown stronger, thus the invitation for a trip to discover Brindisi draw a smile on my face. Another city I haven’t been, another region – Puglia – I never visited. And one more step into the endless charm and variety of Italy.

Brindisi, another piece of Italy to discover, and certainly to love

Corfu Island Overlooking the Adriatic Sea, Brindisi was conquered by the Romans in 267 B.C. and rapidly became an important port of call towards Greece and the East, a role the city kept until the present day.

This is why – I guess – the journey is starting in Brindisi and finishing in Corfu, the lovely Greek island in the Ionian Sea.

A thrilling experience since we’ll reach Greece on board of one of the sailing boats participating to the Brindisi-Corfu regatta during which we will be, er… part of the crew.

Can you imagine 9 bloggers as the crew on a racing sailing boat?

Orecchiette mit Radicchio, Speck und Zucchini Brindisi and the surrounding area offer so much that there will be plenty to write and share about: the Wine Festival, the superb food (I can’t wait to eat one of my favorite dishes: orechiette alla pugliese), a bike tour in the countryside, a stroll along Guna Beach, one of the best – from what I read – in the Salento Area. And much more.

From June 7th, 2013 to June 16th, 2013, you can discover Brindisi with me and the other awesome travel writers, photographers ,and video-makers invited on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and Pinterest.

Coming June, Brindisi is My (Next) Destination. Hope it will be yours as well.

Have you been to Brindisi? Is there anything special you suggest to do and see?
